Food was kinda bland. Too much $$$ for the quality of food. Drinks were fair. Service ok.

Very good restaurant. The service is very friendly and they attended our every need. The food was not too expensive, and it was very affordable. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Family run Mexican restaurant, Excellent food. Michelle and Luis are most welcoming and their wish is that you have a good dining experience. The tamales and chili poblanos are the best I have tasted. You cannot go wrong here.

A majority of family restaurants these days have caved into the cooperate companies, however this one is different. Since I've lived here Sol Y Mar is one of my favorite restaurants in Orange Beach and I stand by that claim. My only gripe about it is sometimes the service is back up and the food takes time to be brought to the table, however the wait is worth it. The food is delicious and the drinks are made in house. I couldn't recommend it more to anyone who is a fan of Mexican food and a local of Gulf Shores/Orange Beach or even a tourist visiting on vacation.

Took way to long to get our food. Place was not busy. Steak fajitas were very tough. Not sure what type of beef they used. Low quality. Daughter ordered chicken quesadilla and it was served whole, not cut. The white cheese dip was very good.

WE HAD LUNCH AT SOL Y MAR... THIS IS REAL AND AUTENTIC MEXICAN FOOD!!! AND EVERYTHING FROM THE SERVICE TO THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING AND OUR SERVICE MICHELLE WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND ATTENTIVE ... WE WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND AND WE WILL BE BACK FOR SURE ... FAJITAS ACROSS THE BORDER SUPER YUMMY .... MARGARITAS... CHESE DIP....ARE DELICIOUS.... THE BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT AT THE WHARF...

The best Mexican food I have ever had ... My server Michelle is the bomb

If you're looking at this and you wonder about the bad reviews, there's only a few things good about this restaurant. Be sure to steer clear , there are two men here that are exceptionally rude with people. The service is poor and slow you'd be better off going to a real Mexican restaurant not one in a strip mall. Order my food was not well done as asked about they took it back 20 minutes later I still didn't receive my as the sides got cold. Cheese dip was also cold although after they microwaved it was quite good. But that's all is good about it steered clear

Hands down favorite!!! I love how a lot of the dishes have more of a healthy spin without jeopardizing the authentic Mexican flavor. The Chili Rellenos are the best I've had! No meal is complete without a mango margarita.... or 2 or 3..

Slow service, over priced, food was terrible but the water was good.

Went on vacation and ate at Sol y Mar restraunt . Food was delicious service was awesome. My favorite appetizer was the cheese dip n chips . Also shrimp fajitas were awsome. Not to mention the margaritas are great. If your ever at the wharf ,I recommend you to stop n eat there 👍👍👍👍👍👍.

Food is very good while the service is excellent. Didn't have to wait for drinks or food. If you want authentic Mexican cuisine head due south. If you want fantastic, timely service and satisfying food, and a home town restaurant atmosphere, check out this spot!

After trying several other Mexican restaurants, we weren’t satisfied with any of them. Sol Y Mar was clearly above the rest. Wish we had found it towards the beginning of our trip. We ate here for lunch twice. Delicious chips and salsa, and even better food. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. Definitely give it a try!We visited the area during off peak season. They told us that they are packed with a short staff during the summer months, so have patience when they are busy. We had no problems with service. Everyone was pleasant, and Michelle was especially wonderful.

Excellent Mexican food as a business owner I highly recommend this restaurant. If you are from vacation and are craving Mexican food it is a must. Service is outstanding and food flavorful.

It is not like me to leave a negative review but the service was horrible and the food was sub par. The owner/manager was so rude he didn't even acknowledge the fact things were going so terrible. We we're so uncomfortable we asked for our food to go. Definitely won't be going back.

I came for lunch and I think that Michelle personally serving my food was great!!! Not used to being served by anyone... Mr. Lois was a great guy he held the door open and brought me chips and SALSA😉😉 it was way better than Taco bell. The chef greeted me and we had great mexianco music. Good times!!!

Service is always great when I come here. Never have I been told to make my own drinks. Food is always hot and fresh. Michelle and the rest of the staff always provides phenomenal service

Waiter was terrible he acted like us being there was such an inconvenience for him. He never once asked if our food was okay. But watched him check on many tables around us but not ours. It was my best friend, her daughter, her niece and myself and we are all sick after eating here. Watching a 3 year and a 6 year old be sick like this on top of myself and her. This is beyond ridiculous! I’m so mad that we ate here. We should have left after we got the bad service. Beyond ridiculous. If you’re ever thinking about eating here please don’t! Especially if you have kids!

My family had a great lunch here last week. The food was tasty (even the pizza my son insisted on having, lol), prices were reasonable, and the staff were super sweet and made sure we were well cared for! Will definitely return.

Service wasn't good and food was worse, priced too high for what was ordered plus the orders were not right either. Would not recommend this restraunt to anyone. Must be just good for pulling in tourists that didn't check reviews.

Came here with my family. The owners used to own a restaurant where we live about 6 hours away! LOVED the food and service! Came a long way and it was so worth it!

Definitely was not impressed about the service or food. Upon entering we weren't met with the most friendliest approach. I thought that the person who greeted and seated us was our server but after sitting us down she walked off without saying anything. Then our server came and asked if we had been served after we replied "no" then she stated she was our server. I got the chicken and rice with queso and veggies. Because I didn't want refried beans I got extra veggies. The food was prepared quickly and I was disappointed. It was a thin slices of grilled chicken and a pile of onions and peppers and watery queso. I was definitely not impressed and can not see myself returning

Surprisingly good Mexican for pleasure island. Their soft tacos are generously sized and Mama Lupe's tamales are really good, too.

This place was great. They stayed open for us past closing when we were clearly the only ones in there. The food was great going down and the service was good. We were seated almost immediately, and our server got to us quickly. The food came put pretty fast and was piping hot, so much that you could hear and see the steam coming off of it. Michelle was lovely, her husband was nice and funny, and overall a good experience. Definitely will be returning the next time i go to the wharf.

Food best flavor I've tasted lately. Atmosphere very pleasant. Appreciated that our server Michelle let us know that a large group had just beat us in the door so wait might be a bit longer than expected. Michelle was very sweet and pleasant while you could tell she was hustling. Authentic Mexican business including personnel whose command of the English language I found charming not rude.

What an amazing hidden gem! Hands down, best nachos and margaritas I’ve ever had. Loved the friendly atmosphere. The managers are a hoot!

We came in and were greated very warmly by Michelle. She was so happy to be there to help us. We sat down and were waited on by her and her husband. The food was delicious. Definitely a ppace to eat when you're in the area.

Terrible service. We walked in expecting to wait for our meal as we loved the restaurant. 2 minutes after, we were yelled at by a man behind the counter telling us to leave.

My husband and I came here on our honeymoon, and we both agree that they have the best fajitas we’ve ever tasted. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Orange Beach area. The service is great too.

Staying at the Wharf this week and our whole family had dinner shortly after arrival. We had such a great time and the food was so good, my son and I came back a couple days later for lunch. The staff was great and entertaining. This will definitely be on the top of our list when visiting OB in the future.

Loved the food here!! Great service and the margaritas were amazing!! Stephanie was our server and she did an incredible job on getting our stuff out in time and made sure we had plenty to drink and kept chips and salsa at our table!!

Clean establishment, delicious food, quick service and very personable staff! The shrimp fajitas were amazing! We'll definitely come back to visit when in the area.

What a friendly place to go. Great margaritas! Bar tender was a lot of fun. A good place before or after the movie at the Warf!

Unfortunately we didn't get to eat or drink here. We were visiting during the seafood festival and they were tremendously understaffed. The poor hostess was stuck washing dishes and there was only one cook. Really poor planning on some ones part because they missed out on a lot of business that day by turning lots of people away. Was happy they explained that the could not serve us food before we sat down. They offered for us to buy drinks however they were also out of beer, again a huge fail on management/owners. Not sure if we will attempt to try it again when in the area.**edited to add WE WILL NOT try it after the owners response, there are too many other great establishments to eat at and spend our $$ **

Does not disappoint. The waiter always kept a smile on our faces, kept our drinks full, and the salsa was the best I have ever had! Will be back!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I could give negative #’s I would absolutely horrible experience. They had no chips & salsa while we waited for food. They had no bartender and the hostess told me if I wanted a drink I should go behind the bar make it myself. Then she proceeded to tell me if I didn’t like the service I should get up & help. They had one cook & one server this place is a joke so disrespectful didn’t even get the chance to taste the food because the service was so bad & they didn’t have any food to serve. Don’t waste your time going here.

Our waiter was hilarious and the food was spot on. We come here every year when we come to the beach and enjoy it very much!! Highly recommend:)
